THE BIGGEST WEDDING PROBLEM…AND HOW TO FIX IT | AUSTIN, TEXAS

Hey! If you’re here, my name is Whitney. I’m a luxury wedding photographer in Austin, Texas. Being in the industry for over 7 years, I can tell you what’s worked and what hasn’t. Your goal for your wedding day is a seamless, beautiful, and true to you kind of day. I mean, majority of us will only do this once and even if we choose to do it again, it won’t be as elaborate as the first. So, we might as well make it as meaningful and important to us as possible!

Not only am I going to give you the one big wedding problem…I’m going to give you three. That way, as you’re beginning to plan your wedding day, you can avoid these three big mistakes and keep on trucking along!

As you’re planning for your wedding and going through all of the checklists, make sure that you remember to add in what’s important to YOU. While family traditions are important, this is your day. Now is it time to be a Bridezilla? Of course not! But you can and should absolutely put your foot down on what’s important to you. Always remember who’s getting married.

NUMBER ONE

One of the biggest problems I’ve seen are Bride’s who choose to utilize the venue’s coordinator verses hiring their own. Now while there are plenty of pro’s and con’s to this, a big con to me is that typically, the venue coordinator’s highest priority is making sure the venue looks good. Now this isn’t all bad in and of itself…but for my Bride’s…hiring a coordinator of their own makes things so much more personable. They typically only take on a few clients per month which makes you a high priority for your wedding month. They also offer a variety of packages that are tailored to their clients needs and wants. If you’re on the fence about hiring a Wedding Coordinator, definitely do it! It’s money well spent and you can be confident in knowing that your wedding day will go smooth like butter!

My favorite wedding planners in the Austin, Texas area!

NUMBER TWO

Cheaping out. I understand that not everybody has a $100,000 budget. And that is totally fine. However, thanks to 2024…we’re really struggling with inflation. So it’s time to get to the nitty gritty about what we want. If your budget is $5k, then you really need to hone in on what’s important to you. Is it family? Is it the ceremony itself? Are you just wanting to get married with nobody around? All of these are valid questions. If you have a modest budget, decide what’s important to you. What you’ll always want to remember from your wedding day. If its the camaraderie from family and friends because you were in a sorority in college…maybe you need to think about saving more money to cater in delicious food, a hype DJ, and a photobooth. Before you hire anybody…make sure you won’t regret hiring them later. The most expensive thing you’ll spend your money on is the thing you wish you wouldn’t have bought in the first place. Make sure you budget for the vendors that you really, really want!

NUMBER THREE

No ragrets. Seriously though, this is the biggest problem I see with Bride’s who have already had their wedding. It definitely ties in with problems one and two. This is YOUR day. I want you to envision yourself maybe two years post wedding day and remember that amazing celebration. Who was there? Were there tears shed? What was the look on his face? Did it rain? What was memorable? Did your wedding get beautifully documented? Can you smell the leather? Think about what you want to remember. For some, it’s that first dance. For others, it’s the look on their daddy’s face (and is that a tear?!) as he sees his oldest daughter in her wedding dress. Whatever it is to you, make it happen. Make it memorable. Because I promise, at the end of the day, you should have no regrets. You should have a vendor team behind you to make your day incredible. It should be THE talk between you and your husband for your entire honeymoon. Girl, get it.

I hope you found this helpful! When you boil all of it down, it really just depends on what you want for your wedding day and how important each thing is to you and your partner. Your wedding is THAT day. It’s the beginning of your legacy together. Every choice…every decision…there is no wrong one as long as it’s important to you!

Heyya! It’s me, Whitney with Luxe Events! I’m so excited you’re here! I photograph couples who value true, organic moments…you know the ones that live rent free in your head. Not many couples have been professionally photographed together prior to their wedding/engagement photos. So…it can get a little weird. lol. But my job? It’s super fun! I get to help you guys look like two, normal people in love without all of the “what do I do with my hands” stuff. So whadyasay? Wanna have some fun?
