Are you allowed in hospitals?

-Hospitals are allowing two support people and a doula (as of June 2021). This means you can have a doula, your primary support person and me, if you want it! I’ve been primarily photographing home and birth center births as of late, but am allowed to be in a hospital setting again! We will go over more details in your complimentary consultation!

Why would I want somebody in the room that I don’t know?

-Good question. We will get to know each other plenty before your birth. I schedule a complimentary consultation before your D-day. This is for you. I show up when you reach active labor and stay 2 hours postpartum capturing the beauty that is birth. Honestly, between the nurses, doctors, midwives, family members…you won’t even know I’m there.

When should I book?

-Booking is easy! I require a $500 up front as a retainer, but from there on out, I offer payment plans or just require that you pay in full by 37 weeks. Ideally, once you’re in your second trimester is the best.

What if you miss my birth?

-This is a fun one! I haven’t missed a birth yet…but if I were to miss yours due to baby coming quickly or some other unforeseen event, we would substitute a session in its place. I would still arrive for the golden hour, but we deal with these on a case by case basis. I always have a backup photographer on hand, so this event shouldn’t happen.

Ugh…I don’t know if I want “that” shot.

-When most people think of birth photography, they think of the crowning shot. Let’s compare this to a wedding… When the preacher announces you husband and wife, everybody thinks of the kiss. But there’s so much more than that! We have two consultations where we will go over the shots that you absolutely want and the ones that you don’t. My job isn’t to make you uncomfortable. It’s to empower you in your birthing process. If you don’t want the crowning shot, that’s absolutely fine! During delivery, I will be at your shoulders getting the first looks of baby as your care provider hands them to you! Rest assured…no images will be shared unless I have your permission.
