Getting to Know Your Local Birth Workers - Jessa Huddleston with Empowered Birthing {Flower Mound, Texas Birth Photographer}

With everything that has happened within the last year, it’s no wonder that more and more mothers are taking charge of their births. Women want and need to feel supported while birthing their babies.

Meet Jessa!

Jessa is a birth and postpartum doula and services all of DFW. She describes her work as assisting families before labor by showing mom positions for labor, stretches to do before to support labor, showing spouses or loved ones how they can support mom. She offers mom a prenatal massage using essential oils two weeks before due date. She attends labor and visits a week or so after to check on baby and mom and assists with nursing and offer recommendations if they need them.

Jessa works with women who are at any stage between conception and postpartum. She is a recently trained doula of seven months, but has a passion and drive to serve mother’s. She describes herself as a Jesus lover. She is a mama to three beautiful babies. She loves Mexican food. Her personal favorite is Mariachis in Fort Worth. In her down time, she loves reading a good, educational book. Learning is her thing! She loves hot tea, is oil obsessed and studies all things natural living. She lives in a renovated school bus and lives a super minimal lifestyle.

What brought you into the birth world?

After having two traumatic births, I decided I want to give families the experience they want and deserve. To be an advocate for the family. Advocate for the moms body and her birth! Show the mom her strengths and how capable she is.

How do you, personally, help women?
Showing them how strong they are, to own their births, that they are in charge & the medical team works for them.

If you could give a mother, who is pregnant, one piece of advice, what would it be?

Sometimes things don’t go as planned so go over all possibilities so you aren’t blind sided. Research it all.

How do you anticipate the birth world evolving?

Going to more mom-led births and not just doing what the doctor said.

What has been the hardest thing to overcome?

When births don’t go as planned. Leaning in on God and finding that understanding and peace.

What is something that you are most proud of?

Becoming a doula while being a mommy to three littles, four and under.

Jessa is one of the sweetest women I’ve met. She has a desire and passion inside her to service every woman with all of herself. If you need Doula, particularly on a sliding-scale, Jessa is your girl!
